How to Change Line Color in Clip Studio Paint
Have you ever drawn something with black outlines, but then decided that the piece would look better with a softer colored outline? I experience this all the time, which is why I love Clip Studio Paint’s color replacement tool. This simple tutorial will cover the basics of altering the color of existing line art.
Step 1: Select the layer you want to change the color of
I’ll be using a quick drawing of a dog for this demonstration. The drawing has two layers; one for the outline and one for the colors. Your art may have multiple different layers for the outline. You can either gather them all on one layer, or simply repeat this process as many times as you need. Make sure the layer you want to change the color of is selected.
Step 2: Select your replacement color
Now, use your preferred color selection method to choose a new color. I’ll be using light pink.
Step 3: Replace the existing color
Head up to the Edit menu and select “Convert to drawing color”.
The color of the selected layer will now change
The layer’s color should now change to what you have selected! This feature can be used on any layer, not just those with line art. Try using it to swap other colors in your art as well!
